Night Host

The Night Host maintains the overnight operation of Ronald McDonald House Charities Mississippi in Jackson from 9:45 p.m. to 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday and Thursday nights. This position serves as awake and alert staff during nighttime hours and helps ensure the House remains safe, clean, and welcoming for families. The Night Host may also cover other overnight shifts when available and mutually agreed upon by the Night Host and House Manager and/or Executive Director. The Night Host should be flexible in all aspects of daily operations, understanding that working at the House requires a community-centered atmosphere and a heart for serving families.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain a safe environment for families and provide awake, alert coverage of the premises during designated overnight hours.
  • Follow lock-up procedures and emergency procedures.
  • Answer the phone and respond to calls from the after-hours answering service.
  • Provide assistance during designated work hours.
  • Reset and clean empty guest rooms and complete housekeeping tasks throughout the facility, including dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and cleaning bathrooms.
  • Complete face-to-face transition with the Evening Manager at the beginning of the shift.
  • Complete face-to-face transition with the House Manager at the end of the shift.
  • Work cooperatively with staff, families, volunteers, and outside personnel as needed.
  • Other responsibilities, tasks, and duties may be assigned by the House Manager or Executive Director at any time.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to stay awake and fully alert during nighttime hours.
  • Must be able to climb stairs.
  • Must be able to bend or kneel to the level of a bathtub.
  • Must be able to communicate in English.
  • Must be able to work independently and prioritize workload effectively.
  • Must be people-oriented and able to represent the organization in a professional manner.

WORK HOURS

The Night Host position is an hourly position with approximately 22 hours per week.

Scheduled hours:

  • Wednesday: 9:45 p.m. to 8:15 a.m.
  • Thursday: 9:45 p.m. to 8:15 a.m.

When needed, this person may be called upon to fill in for other shifts as available.

WAGE

The Night Host position will earn an hourly wage. Compensation depends on experience.
